Two days after the end of Christmas break, on December 8 WHS was evacuated due to a bomb threat. Staff called 911 after finding the lone word "BOMB" on a blank sheet of paper in the library. Students who drove were released from school, while others who rode the bus were escorted across the street to the middle school. The perpertrator has still not been found because of the difficulty to trace such an act. The Wasilla Police Department say it was most likely harmless, but had to follow through with the procedure anyways. More Info

So...Adam said that even though he had a car at the school he was not allowed to go home right away. Daniel even went to the school and tried to get him out, but they had the Dog who was sniffing for bombs on the second floor, and everyone was in lock down. They were all bored stiff waiting to be released.
ReplyDeleteAnd guess what? Adam has video on his phone of the church in flames...did he show you that?
Good job, keep up the good work.
It's amazing one paper with one word on it could do so much and cause panic. Better safe than sorry though. Thank God there wasn't a bomb. Someone needs to tell the kid responsible that something like that is unacceptable and dangerous.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that someone would do such a thing to a church. Hope they catch em'.
A bus full of Wasillians should have gone to DC to challenge them.
Good job Beeb's you should change your major to journalism. I hear the church is back open for business.
ReplyDeleteWow! I did not know all of that happened on one month. Wasilla must be quite populated by the sounds of things, I am assuming around ten thousand people. Bomb threats are a good way for students to get school canceled for the day so like your police department in Wasilla said, it was probably harmless and just a prank. That happens in a school near my home town quite often actually. Even in the elementary school there. They just built a new high school and they had to put in medal detectors by the door because of the violence they were having.
ReplyDeleteIt is a tragedy what happened to the church. It is nice to see that they got a large some of money raised to help rebuild.
Beebo!! Alaska seems like a very interesting state. It made me happy when I saw you were going to write about it because I know very little. I went to a school with about 500 students and I remember having about 2 bomb threats all my years there. It is a good way to scare people, get attention, and get school cancelled I suppose.
ReplyDeleteBeebs i like the news updates from Alaska. It's nice to know what's going on in another country! I mean state! I never had a bomb threat while in high school but i am glad all went well in Wasilla. Palin for President next year? nah.
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of scary to think about there being a bomb threat in the school. I came from a small town where there weren't any acts of violence. Like some otheres said, this may have just been a way for school to get cancelled. I just hope that this doesn't become so prevelent that it gets overlooked when there really is a bomb.
